Accessibility, Data Privacy and Protection

We want as many people as possible to be able to use the website. For example: -
  • Simple text is used, mostly black on white for high contrast
  • Zoom in up to least 300% without text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate the website using a keyboard
  • Listen to the website using a screen reader (e.g. Google Chrome Read Aloud)
  • Mobile compatible
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is
The website was tested on 19/2/2026 for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) accessibility standard design principles: perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. The website is materially compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. There are a few minor non-compliant things: banner images not having alt-text (a constraint of the Weebly web design package used), the Weebly logo footer having poor contrast against background and some PDF documents not having Alt-Text description of images, but these are not material to the use and content of the website.

About this website’s accessibility
Dockenfield Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status
This website is materially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. A few minor, non-compliant items were found: -
  • Banner images at the top of pages do not have Alt-Text descriptions of the images. These images are purely for aesthetic purposes and do not contribute to the content of the website.
  • The Weebly logo at the foot of pages has poor contrast against the background. Preference would be to remove the logo but this is not possible, it does not contribute to the content of the website.
  • Some PDF documents do not have Alt-Text descriptions of images.
